Ever since I was a child, I have been passionate about cooking. Much of my passion probably has to do with growing up with a mom who is a professional chef. Now, I enjoy teaching others to plan and prepare healthy, home-cooked meals. Planning meals for fertility, prenatal nutrition, women's health, hormones, diabetes, PCOS, kidney disease and heart health are my specialties. In addition to individual counseling, I lead grocery store tours and cooking classes and diabetes talks. In a 1995 Nutrition in Medical Science Class, I discovered that statistically, African Americans suffered disproportionately from many chronic diseases. I made it my goal in this life to discover a solution to alter the trajectory of the problem. I now help African-Americans develop a proper relationship with the food they eat by incorporating culture into the recipe of active living, glorious nutrition and wellness!

In the past, I struggled to understand good nutrition and waded through many diet trends without benefit. I studied nutrition science because I wanted to learn more about how to nourish myself and my family. Now I get to use what I learned to help the people I love the most and help others in my community. I believe everyone is worthy of good nutrition and nutrition education.
