Hey there! My name is Christina Yangas. I'm a nationally registered dietitian with a masters degree in human nutrition from The University of Alabama. I first wanted to be a dietitian to help change the face of sports dietetics. I wanted to be one of the first females to help take a team to the Super Bowl, championship, Olympics – you name it. I saw the fun in optimizing performance of elite athletes. However, as I studied nutrition I learned more about how broken the health system is and how often misconceptions about diet and food are causing long term repercussions.

I am a registered dietitian with over fifteen years experience. I became a RD to help people live their healthiest lives. My varied nutrition background helps me bring a unique view to working with clients. I have worked in hospitals, schools, food pantries, and in agriculture. I am a mom of three young kids and our family loves to stay active. Whether it is swimming in the summer (we're just outside of Chicago!), skiing/snowboarding in the winter, or family walks around our neighborhood, we like to keep busy! Majority of my experience has been at the inpatient level of care, most recently serving as the Supervisor of Dietitians and Inpatient Eating Disorder Program at a behavioral health hospital. I have also worked in transitional living, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient nutrition counseling. As a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS), I work throughout the spectrum of eating disorders with all aged individuals.

I have been a dietitian for 14 years, all of which have included pediatrics to adults. I have worked at two children’s hospitals as well as outpatient settings. Diabetes has been an interest of mine since the beginning so I pursued an advanced certification as a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. I especially enjoy working with insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors. I became a dietitian after playing sports throughout my life and becoming a runner as an adult. Heart disease runs in my family and I took a special interest in improving the food choices of those around me to improve their health.

I have a Masters degree in nutrition and am a licensed and credentialed registered dietitian. I’m experienced in addressing nutritional needs for diverse populations; specifically infants, children, prenatal and postnatal care, and lactating people. I also have experience with managing and preventing diabetes. On a personal note, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes years ago and know too well the impact that a big health diagnosis can have on your life. Through this experience, I’ve understood the importance of being in touch with your food and wellbeing, and always checking nutrition labels!
